A Court of Mist and Fury

Author : Sarah J. Mass

I was broken heart because the author ruined Tamlin. Suddenly, my sweet and kind golden prince being the foolish fae. And his place replaced with dark, mysterious and powerful prince of night. And yes, although I am sad because of Tamlin; but I not be able to put this book unfinished and discover more about Feyre’s journey, friends and romance. Be prepared, this book is just as lovely and lively as the first one. It is very hard to not grabbed for this book now and then and read and dream about Feyre’s land.

Synopsis…

This second book picks up 3 months after Under The Mountain. The horror they all endured during Amarantha’s still haunted them, day and night. And Feyre was broken inside and don’t know how to repair herself. Tamlin pretends not to notice and with a reason for protecting her, Feyre is not allowed out of the Spring Court Manor. His action makes Feyre depressed, frustated and feel trapped within until Night Court help her to escape

At Night Court, Feyre learns about the Court of Starlight and Dream. Slowly she recovers from her depression and heartbreak, also she finds friends and family and then her mate in this court. But with the war in edge, peace is still far away. Together with Rhys, she tried to figure out what is Hybern plan and how to null the cauldron.

So, as I said in the beginning, I am sad because of Tamlin. And of course I am sorry for Lucien. But however, I love the relation development between Feyre and Rhysand. And it really can’t help because I also change my ship to Rhysand and Night Court too.

And I must say, I also fall in love with Velaris. I really like this city. I am shock when it got attack from Hybern. And Feyre is badass. I love how her power improve in this book. I love also Cassian and Azriel. I need more about them.

At last…. Just read. It is really amazing

Destination Unknown

Author : Agatha Cristie

I am Agatha Cristie’s fan. Although not all her books is 5 stars but I always found that so far the books I’ve read was interesting.

Like this one. No Poirot, No Marple, just a deserted wife and bereaved mother, who asked to undertake a dangerous mission for alternative to die in more interesting way than taking an overdose of sleeping pills. She asked to impersonate the wife of missing scientist who believed will join her husband somewhere. During her adventure, she found back her spirit and brave to fight and love in this world.

It is an espionage story. But it lacks of action, details and brain cells. So, if you looking for a thrilled mystery book, this one absolutely not the one. However, I still enjoy reading this. Not the best of Agatha Cristie, -hmmm- 3.5 star.

A Court Of Thorns and Roses

Author: Sarah J.Mass

I loveeeee this book. Just finish reading but still can’t move on. This is the book which I eagerly read to the end and then back again few chapters and rush to the end and back again for details and sweet moments, and loop again. Yes, I know that my reading is awful, but I can’t get enough of Tamlin, Feyre and Lucien.

The forest had become a labyrinth of snow and ice

From the beginning, we get the background how hard is Feyre’s life. She is 19 years old and the youngest in her family, she must fighting for survival – not only for her but also her family. But, when she killed a wolf which turn out a faery, she has been forced to live in a fae land; live there forever with her captor, Tamlin. It is hard to live in fae land; since she, not only hate but also afraid with the fae and their ability. But, slowly she built trust for Tamlin and fall in love with him. Yes, there is romance but also full of adventure, life and survival story; which is the best part of this book.

There is so many interesting characters in this book, like:

Feyre, a strong and independent girl.

Tamlin, a strong and confident High Lord but in the other side shy and sweet.

Lucien, although secondary to Tamlin, is an important character to provide a good humour.

Rhysand; darkness prince. He is still mysterious for me and his magic seems awesome although not so powerful like Tamlin’s. I really hope this story does not end up with love triangle because I love Tamlin. 😁

I am waiting for my second book to arrive. Can’t wait to read this series

I love to read many genre, and law is one of it. Although at some aspect, I can’t understand enough; but how justice at last win the court always give me positive hope and wish that not all jurisdiction is corrupted. About this book itself; although my fave one is always Grisham’s works, but Scottoline’s works worth a try.

Anne of Green Gables Series

Author : Lucy Maud Montgomery

Anne is one of my favorite series. I collect (almost) all of her stories, so I decide to talk all together here.

-. Anne of Green Gables; this is the first period when Anne came to Green Gables for the first time. As a little girl who lacks of love but very imaginative, romantic and easily get in trouble, she got love from Matthew and moral lesson from Marilla.

-. Anne of Avonlea; early years of teenage Anne. She teach at Avonlea’ school. Build a circle of friendship with Diana, Jane, Priscilla, Gilbert, and Miss Lavender and also Paul.

-. Anne of the Island; her 4 years at the college. Meeting new friends and discovering the person she want to spend her life with. During her college years, she think that she loves Roy Gardner; until she realize her love for Gilbert

-. Anne of Windy Poplar; waiting for Gilbert to finish his medical study, Anne devotes her first three years out of college as a headmaster at Summerside. Although she get her rough start of career because a town’ ruling family, she at last win them over and finish her years with many experiences

-. Anne, House of Dream; after marry Gilbert, this young couple live their first years of marriage at a little cottage at Four Winds Harbour. Love and loved, they spend their first years with many experience. Good and bad, happy and sad, with circle of friends to support.

-. Anne of Ingleside, this is more focus with the experience of young souls which come to Anne and Gilbert family. I feel

The characters inside is memorable.

Anne, herself, is the one I like the most. Her lively character, her imagination and her ambition is the main core of these stories. And also I love how after her bad acts, she can admit her mistakes bravely. Remember how she sold Mr Harrison’s cow? (Anne of Avonlea) I really have a good laugh. I also love many of her good thinking, I learnt a lot from her. I get a good laugh, good idea, good memories, good cry during all of these series reading.

Gilbert, is the second character I love the most. Maybe because I have my poetic soul as Anne’said, from the beginning I really wish Gilbert will be the one for Anne. My favorite part? His proposal to Anne in Hester Gray’s garden. So lovely ❤

Diana, Anne’s bestfriend or as her said, her soulmate. She is not so imaginative like Anne, but her support and her friendship for Anne is so beautiful.

Davy Keith! With all of his questions!

Captain James. His simple and open minded. Honest. Kind hearted. I love his character.

Actually, it still have many others of favorite characters. So, I can said these books are great books to read in many times, moods, season.

Little Women

Author: Louisa May Alcott

I want to do something splendid before I go into my castle – something heroic or wonderful, that won’t be forgotten after I’m dead. I don’t know what, but I’m on the watch for it, and mean to astonish you all someday. I think I shall write books, and get rich and famous: that would suit me, so that’s my favourite dream.”

This is one of my favorite classical novel and in my opinion, one of the best. I already read this book several times now and still enjoy it. This is the story of 4 young sisters: Meg – the oldest and the most beautiful in the family, Jo – free spirit, strong minded and cheerful girl – very passion in writing, Beth – kind hearted and shy girl, the saint of the family, the musical angel, Amy – the youngest but very conscious of her own importance – the Picasso in the family. Their father serves for Army, far away from home while the girls stay with their mother. Accompany with them, there is rich Mr Laurence and young Laurie – their neighbour, together with Mr. Brooke, Laurie’s tutor.

This book divided in two parts. First one is story during their childhood to adulthood while the second part is story about how they trying to cope the responsibilities as adult. It centers in the troubles, dreams, and aspirations of the girls also how they learn to become the best version of themselves.

What I love from this book

This book is not like the modern teen books nowaday. It feels real since the trouble they have is still relevant with all the troubles we fought nowaday: the short tempered, sharp tongue, jealousy, etc. I love how they react to their problem and improve themselves. And Jo, the most character which I loved although I am quite upset with what she got at the end, but however I agree that we must realize that being happy doesn’t mean to have everything of your dream but knowing that everything you do have is worth it.

Not only about characters, but I really love the closeness of this family. Not only between parents and daughter but among the sisters herself. Although they are very different, they stick together and support each other.

So, I highly recommended this book, take a time and read it. You will value this book.

Paris for One and other stories

Author: Jojo Moyes

When I decided to buy this book, I not read properly the “other stories” behind…. Short stories is not my favorite, that’s why when I found this is exactly short stories, I feel betrayed. Haha.. and think that I am blind, why I not detect the “other stories” in the title. 🤦‍♀️However, I still have hope in this book because it is Jojo Moyes. And she has a book-made into-movie, right?

So, here my opinion about this book:Paris for One – this is the jewel of this book and i am absolutely agree. It tells about Nell, an organized woman in her mid twenties who known make a pro-con list before deciding a sandwich. One day, she surprises her boyfriend by plan a romantic gateaway to Paris, but he fails to arrive and Nell suddenly find herself alone in foreign country. Found herself at another country with the language she barely know, she learn about who she is and what she capable of. A good story about young woman who try to handle her insecure; blossoming from a quiet girl into a confident young woman who takes charge about her life.

The other stories is various stories of romance, all told from a woman’s point of view. About how a twitter can affect a life and how people complicate their lives unnecessarily (Between The Tweet), about how a meeting with her former love affect her decision with her marriage (A Bird in A Hand), or a touching story about a empowerment (Crocodile Shoes), about an exhausted woman is running around the town at 23rd December trying to finish her christmas shopping (The Christmas List), etc

The stories are light and some force me to think of the value. But nevertheless it left no trace in my memory nor attracted me to reread it another time like some books done to me.

All the Little Liars

Author: Charlaine Harris

This is my first book of Charlene Harris and it seemed to me that this book is worthy with its 3.8 stars. And I just realise that this one is actually a serial novel with Aurora Teagarden as the central chatacter and the problem or mistery in each book is the one which happen in her social circle.

In this (i don’t know which number of series…) Aurora Teagarden is happily married and in waiting for a new member in her little family. But when she is busy to inform the people who needed to know; her half brother, Philip is missing with three other teens: Josh, Joss and Liza. They suddenly vanish from the school soccer field one afternoon. Police already been contacted to do a search but the prospect being worse when they found a dead body – another teen called Tammy, who was a girlfriend of Joss – in the missing teens last destination.

When the police still found nothing, Aurora and her husband, a crime writer Robin Crusoe, begins her own investigation. During her interview, she suspect that some person is not telling the real facts. Her suspicion increase when Clayton’s parents claim that their son also missing and a ransom has been asking but doesnt act normally like parents with missing kid.

I must confess that the first reason I read this one is because it is on sale. And after some googling, her rate is quite good. I am not dissappointed because I enjoy reading this book. It is easy reading, with a clear and systematic plot. I like Aurora Teagarden character. As an amateur, she do her investigation by her curiousity, quite systematic and daring. So, I also will give 3.8 in this book.

Hallowe’en Party

Author: Agatha Christie

One of my favorite reading is Agatha Christie and my favorite character is Hercules Poirot. So it never bore me to re-read or glued my eyes to any Poirot cases. I always found it is worthy to read.

This one I found in my sister library, so how can I resist to read it as my ‘me-time’ reading? 😊

‘Hallowe’en Party’ is one of many Poirot cases. Located in Woodleigh Common, Poirot in charge because his friend, Oliver Ariadne – a famous mistery author, asking his help to solve a murder which done during halloween party. Ms Oliver believe that this murder is done because a statement of the victim, Joyce, that she already witness a murder before.

Though no one believe this girl because her history of over-exaggerating and lying, but a murder already done because of her statement. Who would have wanted to murder a young girl if not because of her statement before? And as Ms Oliver depends to Poirot’s ability to solve the mistery, we also can depend with his grey cell to find the connection between Joyce’s murder with the murder which done years before.

However, this one is not the best of Poirot. His ability in investigation is still amazing, he can find a deduction during his interview to all the characters here. But, somehow, i feel uncomplete. I rather miss his talking about his little grey cell or his boast about his perfect mustache which no hint in this book. Also i miss Colonel Hastings. But of course, this one can’t make me give up Agatha Christie.
