A Court of Mist and Fury

Author : Sarah J. Mass

I was broken heart because the author ruined Tamlin. Suddenly, my sweet and kind golden prince being the foolish fae. And his place replaced with dark, mysterious and powerful prince of night. And yes, although I am sad because of Tamlin; but I not be able to put this book unfinished and discover more about Feyre’s journey, friends and romance. Be prepared, this book is just as lovely and lively as the first one. It is very hard to not grabbed for this book now and then and read and dream about Feyre’s land.

Synopsis…

This second book picks up 3 months after Under The Mountain. The horror they all endured during Amarantha’s still haunted them, day and night. And Feyre was broken inside and don’t know how to repair herself. Tamlin pretends not to notice and with a reason for protecting her, Feyre is not allowed out of the Spring Court Manor. His action makes Feyre depressed, frustated and feel trapped within until Night Court help her to escape

So, as I said in the beginning, I am sad because of Tamlin. And of course I am sorry for Lucien. But however, I love the relation development between Feyre and Rhysand. And it really can’t help because I also change my ship to Rhysand and Night Court too.

And I must say, I also fall in love with Velaris. I really like this city. I am shock when it got attack from Hybern. And Feyre is badass. I love how her power improve in this book. I love also Cassian and Azriel. I need more about them.

A Court Of Thorns and Roses

Author: Sarah J.Mass

I loveeeee this book. Just finish reading but still can’t move on. This is the book which I eagerly read to the end and then back again few chapters and rush to the end and back again for details and sweet moments, and loop again. Yes, I know that my reading is awful, but I can’t get enough of Tamlin, Feyre and Lucien.

The forest had become a labyrinth of snow and ice

From the beginning, we get the background how hard is Feyre’s life. She is 19 years old and the youngest in her family, she must fighting for survival – not only for her but also her family. But, when she killed a wolf which turn out a faery, she has been forced to live in a fae land; live there forever with her captor, Tamlin. It is hard to live in fae land; since she, not only hate but also afraid with the fae and their ability. But, slowly she built trust for Tamlin and fall in love with him. Yes, there is romance but also full of adventure, life and survival story; which is the best part of this book.

There is so many interesting characters in this book, like:

Feyre, a strong and independent girl.

Tamlin, a strong and confident High Lord but in the other side shy and sweet.

Lucien, although secondary to Tamlin, is an important character to provide a good humour.

Rhysand; darkness prince. He is still mysterious for me and his magic seems awesome although not so powerful like Tamlin’s. I really hope this story does not end up with love triangle because I love Tamlin. 😁

I am waiting for my second book to arrive. Can’t wait to read this series

Author: Cecelia Ahern

Lyrebird is most notable for their superb ability to mimic natural and artificial sounds from their environment, and the striking beauty of the male bird’s huge tail when it is fanned out in courtship display

From the two books of Cecelia Ahern which I aready read, I found that her theme is always interesting, unique! So, when I found this book, I was eager to read it.

And sure, this one not let me down. It is a beautiful love story. Cecelia Ahern uses Ambrose Pratt “The Lore of the Lyrebird” book as a bone for this book. It tells about a documentary crew who stumble upon a young woman – Laura Button, with her superb ability of mimicry. This chance discovery send Laura Button into the worst aspect in this modern world.

Her meeting with Solomon come to a decision to follow wherever Solomon goes. When Solomon trying to detach, she try to find her new life in talent seeking. But everything comes so wrong and make her feel trapped.

My opinion

As I talked before, this book doesn’t let me down. I love the language. I also love its slow, easy going storyline with two main characters who connect on sonic as well as an emotional plane and of course their happy ending. This book also fill me with many information about this unique species of bird. Do you know, this is my first time to know that there is a real bird with mimicry ability in this world? 😁

5 of 5

When we draw together all the threads available to us to approach an understanding of the Lyrebird, we are imperiously compelled to enter the misty realm where intelligence separates from instinct and merges into form

Tales from Shadowhunter Academy

Author : Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson, Robin Wasserman

This book is actually a collection of stories with Simon Lewis adventure as it backbones.

After City of Heavenly Fire, Simon Lewis lost his memories, and Simon isn’t sure who he is anymore. He knows he is friend with Clary, and he, somehow, dating with Isabelle Lightwood but he doesn’t know how it happens. So, when Shadowhunter Academy reopens, Simon join immediately, determine to find himself again through the new world of demon-hunting.

Actually this book is like a study about Shadowhunter. It consist of ten stories and each stories preface with black and white illustrator. It brings us to the history about Shadowhunter through all the guest lectures like Jace Herondale, Tessa Gray, Magnus Bane and some others.

If u ask my opinion about this book, 1 to 5 it takes 3. It’s not the book which makes me think “wow, this is awesome”, but “hmmm, ok lah”. It’s good enough to make me “maybe” re-read again sometime. Don’t get wrong, I still love Shadowhunter. I love Jace Herondale a.k.a Jace Lightwood, Clary Fray a.k.a Clarissa Fairchild, Isabelle Lightwood, Simon Lewis; but this book just can’t tune in me.

A Curse So Dark and Lonely

Author: Brigid Kemmerer

For the first time, I wonder what it must be like to live in a place that resets – over and over again – minus his family.

I looooovvveeee this book. I can re-read so many times and never get enough. The story is cool and addicted, combine between fairytale, magic and epic war. And I definetly also fall for Rhen.

To start, Prince Rhen was cursed. Because of one mistake with a wrong woman, he got cursed and must repeat his 18 until he broke the curse. Every season, he must convince a young lady to fall in love with him, otherwise when the season’s end he will become a monster. He already replaying “Seasons” for 300 times and in every season he becomes more broken when he realise that he already destroys his family, castle and his people and also any hope of falling in love.

Life for Harper Lacy, a young woman from D.C; is not easy. Her father makes a wrong decision which run her family to very bad financial condition. Her mother is in critical situation because of her cancer. Her brother force to do whatever job the debtors ask. She trapped at Emberfall when attempts to save someone from becoming a victim. Her first goal is to find way back home. But, soon, she comes to care of Emberfall and she calls Rhen’s attention to more practical action to save his kingdom.

This story is told in dual perspective of Rhen and Harper. It makes us clear with every actions which taken by the two main character. I love how smooth the description was told which make Emberfall become alive. As a re-telling of Beauty and the Beast, this book adopt a darker theme with strong characters inside. I love how they make Harper as a strong will female and fiery spirit who although she has limitation, she never give up. I love also Commander Grey, who showing true care to Rhen and Harper. And I love the idea to tame Rhen-the monster and side by side turn disaster to be victory.

But still, of course there is a romance here. The romance is tender and burns slowly throughout the book. And I love best because the relationship does not built from love at the first sight but from trust between each other.

Can’t wait to read the sequel.

Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden #1)

Author: Julie Kagawa

Yes, this book is about vampire. But, Julie Kagawa play in different platform. It takes place on a neglected world, when demon are everywhere and being dominant. Not only vampire, here you can find also rabids – the vampire mutant.

Our heroine, Allison Sekemoto lived in a vampire city as an Unregistered. Being Unregistered means you must fight for your food, clothes and place to sleep. But you are free, you are not pet to the vampire, no need to get ‘blooded’ twice a month. Allison hates vampire very much coz they are responsible to her mother’s death.

But, when Rabids attacked her gang in a food hunting, and tore her up pretty bad, a vampire offer her a chance to be the Undead. And yes, as predictable, our heroine choose to turn. (However, this book is about vampire right?). As a newbie, Allison splits between her nature as vampire and her hatred of the monster itself. And the rest of the book tells about what kind of monster Allison choose to be and how she do to help humanity.

You will always be a monster – there is no turning back from that. But what kind of monster you become is entirely up to you.”

What makes this book interesting is Allison character. She is brave, bold and very cool (she brings katana everywhere!!). Fiercelly loyal to those whom she cares for. She is driven and determined, although sometimes she is harsh and unsymphatetic.

Courtesy: bloodofeden.fandom.com

And to make this book more passionate, it has romance too. Zeke or Ezekiel Crosse is 100% human. He is a human leader of a small group searching for Eden. Opposite from Allison, Zeke is kind, friendly and trusting. And which make Zeke very loveable is because he have ability to see the best of people.

He doesn’t know that Allison is a vampire. So when the truth come out, he is really confused how to handle his feeling since he already fall for Allison. The curiosity of what happen to him in the next series is enough to make me sure that I will read the next book.

My best scene? This one:

“But at least try to look a little more raider-ish, okay? We don’t want to attract attention.”
Zeke’s snort sounded suspiciously like laughter. “Allie, you’re a beautiful, exotic-looking vampire girl with a katana. Trust me, if anyone is going to attract attention, it’s not going to be me.”
I didn’t answer as we crossed the flimsy, creaking bridge into the lair of the vampire king. If Zeke had asked, I would’ve said that I was thinking of how to find everyone, but that wasn’t entirely true. I was thinking of the others and how I was going to get them out alive…but I kept being distracted by the thought that Zeke had called me beautiful.

Tintenherz

Author: Cornelia Funke

The Subtle Knife

Author: Philip Pullman

His Dark Material Trilogy

Buku kedua dari His Dark Material.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

Author: J.K. Rowling

The first book of Harry Potter, which I’m sure many people already read or watch it. But in case you never read it, here is the synopsis:

In his 10 years old birthday, Harry Potter just knew that he is a wizard through a half-giant Hagrid who go across country to give Hogwarts letter to Harry. Since from baby, he lives with his uncle and aunt who really alergic with wizard thing, he knew nothing about wizard world. He never knew that his parents died in Voldemort hand and he is the only one who save from him; which makes him famous in wizarding world. In his trip to Hogwarts, he makes friend with Ronald Weasley who soon being his best friend. As the years goes on Hogwarts, Harry and Ron attain a new best friend for life, Hermione Granger and to the end of the year they have to face a battle with Lord Voldemort!

My favorite scene in this book is when Ronald Weasley play the echanted giant chess.

But not only this parts, I have many favorite part like when Harry and Ron try to save Hermione from the mountain troll and start a friendship after that. Or when Harry played Quidditch for the first time and catch the Golden Snitch. Or in her confusion, Hermione got crisis ‘there is no wood’ (you must read this part). And many many others.

Really you can’t get boring when reading this book, which is proven because I already re-read this book many times and still enchanted with the story. The best series ever!

Here are some remarkable quotes I like:

‘That’s chess!’snapped Ron. ‘You’ve got to make a sacrifices! I’ll make my move and she’ll take me – that leaves you free to checkmate the king, Harry!’

‘There are all kinds of courage,” said Dumbledore, smiling.’It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.’
